Do you feed your cattle anything other than grass?

No. Our farm is truly 100% Grass-Fed and Finished from birth to processing. Our herd eats chemical-free hay (cut/dried grasses) outdoors in the winter and grazes on our rich grass/clover/alfalfa pasture in the spring, summer and fall. They also receive fresh water and mineral salt.

Your beef is the best Grass-Fed beef we've ever had. Why?

Many farm customers have told us that our Grass-Fed beef tastes more flavorful and tender than other Grass-Fed beef. This is because we have made substantial investments in our pasture and our animals. By sourcing Black Angus stock from Michigan, we are able to avoid less desirable breeds that do not finish well on grass alone, or breeds that were intended for dairy.

Is your farm certified USDA Organic? Why not?

Our farm is not certified USDA Organic. We have chosen not to pursue Organic certification because we have a direct connection with you, our customer. Whether we are delivering to your home or you are picking up at the farm, you can ask us anything, anytime. You can walk around the farm and see how we raise and treat our livestock. And, you can tell from the quality of our food that we are honestly producing the cleanest food we can. We use zero chemicals or sprays, and we don't give our animals any antibiotics or hormones. This is the opposite of a confinement farm, and healthy animals produce food that is beyond organic.

I've bought from farms before and I've had to buy a whole/half animal and pick it up at the butcher. How is buying from your farm, by the cut, possible?

Our animals are processed at a USDA inspected facility, which allows us to be able to sell individual retail cuts/packages. After processing, we bring the meat back to our farm for storage in the retail farm store, which is were we fill delivery orders from as well. Buying whole/half animals is complicated and takes up your valuable freezer space (sometimes with cuts that you don't want). However, if you have freezer space, you can buy a bulk bundle package and save money at the same time.

Why does your meat cost more?

The short answer is nutrient density. Just like a home-cooked meal from scratch is better for you than fast food, animals raised over a longer period of time, outdoors, with only the best feed is more nutrient dense than animals raised quickly with the support of fillers, synthetics, antibiotics and hormones. Quality takes more time and effort, and the difference is worth it. Please visit our farm or reach out to us to learn more!

How long can I store your meat in my freezer / what is the shelf life?

Pasture-based farming in Michigan means that our grazing animals (beef, lamb and chicken) must be harvested when fresh green grass is part of their diet (June - December/January). All of our meats are packaged in thick packaging and frozen immediately after production to ensure safe, extended storage and maintain quality. Nothing is stored in a non-frozen state or put on fresh display, ever. Our processors recommend consuming within 18 months, but if you have product in your freezer and the tight seal is still intact (minimal oxygen/ice inside the package), there should be no loss in quality.

What do I do if I haven't received an email confirmation?

If I select free home delivery, but I won't be home, how will I get my order (and pay for it)?

If you won't be home for a home delivery day, you can simply leave a cooler by your door and we will put your order inside it. You can pay for your order once you receive your invoice, either with Bitcoin, cash, check, Venmo, PayPal or credit card. I placed an order and received a confirmation, but where is my invoice?

Once we put your order together with the individual item weights, we will email you an invoice. These are typically emailed 1-3 days before the delivery day. It may also be in your email's spam folder.

I'd like to place an order, but my city isn't listed as a delivery option. What do I do?

You can check our farm-to-home delivery calendar to see if we are coming to your area soon, and we are adding dates monthly. You can also send us a message and we can build a delivery around your location in the near future. We are currently delivering to the following metro areas: Detroit, Ann Arbor, Flint, Lansing, Grand Rapids, Kalamazoo, Jackson and Battle Creek.

Why are you out of ___?

As a small family farm, many of the items we produce are seasonal and available only until we are able to produce them again. We are sorry if you are looking for something and we happen to be sold out. If you let us know what you need, we can let you know as soon as it will be available. Thanks for your patience!

Why do you recommend and sell a meat thermometer?

We started using a meat thermometer several years ago when we started investing in higher quality meats and striving to cook them correctly. We did some research and Thermoworks is the fastest, most accurate and cost effective unit available. The newest model comes with recommended cooking temperatures and will help to ensure the meat that you are purchasing is not wasted due to overcooking.
